Universal Loving-Kindness

The Universal Loving-kindness exercise is thought of as the last step in our interpersoanl development. That being so, I am quite sure I have lots of work to do on the previous steps before I can expect much of this. One thing I can say is that the exercise did give me a feeling of accomplishment. I felt like it is an intention to stop being selfish and judgemental. It allows us to see the rest of human kind as a single entity. We are all connected and love sent out to the world will be realized in our own heart as well.

The integral assessment only confirmed what I know is the area I need to focus on. That being psychospiritual development. The fact that it stands out so easy for me just means that I have lots of work. My mind seems to hardly ever be at ease and I am bombarded by mental chatter constantly. I plan on practicing the subtle mind exercise regularly in a effort to train my mind. I was also intrigued by the different types of meditation and will begin utilizing them in my life as well. The Transcendental Meditation or Relation Response seemed most fitting for me at the moment.

  1. Hi Danny, I enjoyed reading your blog.

I can totally relate to what you are saying. I also feel the same way. My mind is non-stop, however, with the mediation exercises and our reading assignments, I feel a little more calm and at ease.

It sounds like you have a good plan in place to help you develop your psychospiritual aspect.

    Good luck on your journey.

  2. Thanks for reading Lori. I actually do feel like I have control over my life more than ever before. I suppose I always looked at my mental health and psychospiritual development as dependent on outside sources. I now truly believe that that could not be further from the truth. All we really need is our own mind and some silence to begin our practice. The other areas in my life seem to be shifitng toward better places as well. Thanks for the comment. Best wishes and be well!

  3. Danny,
I wish you much luck upon further developing your psychospirituality. This is something that comes easy for me and my wife hates it because it is what she needs improvement on. She is always asking me how I am able to do it, how am I able to free my mind of the clutter. The only advice that I can give is practice, practice, practice, and try not to think of anything. It can be hard to do if you are not use to doing it but once you achieve the goal it is an amazing feeling.
